About MTL The Minnesota Tool Library (MTL) is a membership-based non-profit which helps reduce waste, cultivate a more resilient and equitable community, and empower individuals via access to tools, training, and workspaces. We help each other invest in our homes, small businesses and neighborhoods. Our lending library includes thousands of tools that members can check-out for home improvement, landscape, DIY, or repair projects. Our shops provide access to large power and specialty tools for use in-house and project space for those without a garage or basement to spare. We're more than just a lending library and shop though - we're a community. MTL helps members expand their collective skill set, helping each other to learn which tools to use for meaningful projects and connect with each other while doing it. Last but not least, we offer classes for members and non-members alike - everything from basic tool use and safety classes to our popular DIY workshops where participants craft beautiful cutting boards, turn table legs, and much more. You can read more about what we do on our website: www.mntoollibrary.org . A primarily member and volunteer driven organization (think of us a nonprofit co-op) - MTL is governed by an active Board of Directors and a handful of leadership sub-committees (Advancement, Finance, Engagement, and Programming) which oversee the growth and development of both branches. Additional direction and operational support is provided by the modest part-time staff - the Executive Director, and a small team of Branch Managers.
