Job Description and Requirements

The Financial Advisor will provide investment, retirement, annuity, advisory, and educational investment planning and advice, as licensed, to clients in an assigned region and execute transactions for investment products that match client needs. The Financial Advisor will also refer appropriate members to other services offered by RBFCU as needed and appropriate for the member.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with existing clients to further develop and maintain strong relationships with the goal of attracting 100% of wallet share and positioning oneself as the primary financial advisor and institution for all of the client's traditional banking, trust, borrowing and other financial needs. Uncover and refer additional opportunities back to the branch or internal partners.

  • Meet or exceed production goals utilizing a product mix that is appropriate for the member while maintaining a fiduciary standard. Acquire, sustain and effectively apply a comprehensive knowledge of investment and insurance products and other financial tools as well as traditional credit union products and services. Provide exceptional service at all times.

  • Present professional image in all interactions, personally and professionally. Call prospects and referrals from branch and non-branch partners to engage in the planning process. Make and receive calls from clients, assisting them with their questions and resolving problems as appropriate.

  • Address client concerns and report complaints promptly and IAW broker dealer and RBFCU policy.

  • Develop relationships as appropriate with clients, their family and beneficiaries to maintain accounts and relationships as assets pass from one generation to another. Deliver total solution financial plans and recommendations to clients, focusing on each member's individual needs, risk and objectives.

  • Ensure maximum flexibility to relieve and/or assist in a variety of functions as needed. Provide exceptional customer service to all Member-Clients. Travel to other branch locations as assigned.

  • Execute trades (as licensed) for mutual funds, stocks, bonds, etc. as directed by client without error and within compliance rules. Provide client literature and disclosures as required. Effectively utilize all tools technology and resources provided by broker dealer partner and the credit union.

  • Attend regular RBFCU and broker/dealer product and sales training meetings (virtual or in person) and complete all required training on time. Acquire new and sustain current product/industry knowledge through training and continuing education.

  • Provide branch and other credit union staff with pertinent referral and product training. Utilize seminars, workshops, segmentation of book, the service model and menu of services to grow the business. Prospect and gain referrals from existing clients and other sources as appropriate.

  • Conduct business with the highest ethical standards. Annuitize the business using recurring revenue whenever possible.

  • Prepare and maintain complete and accurate client files, client financial data, and documentation as directed. Adhere to all FINRA rules and regulations as well as those of the broker dealer partner and the credit union.

  • Address / complete all open tasks, status manager items and assigned reports.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Three years' experience within the financial services\credit union industry in a position with extensive client interaction

  • Knowledge of financial products and services and business or economics

  • Working and current knowledge of investment and insurance products and the financial services industry

  • Excellent organizational, administrative and service skills

  • Skill in the operation of investment-related software, personal computers, printers and general modern office equipment

  • Ability to be self-motivated and directed

  • Proficiency in effective communication both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to effectively work on the telephone to engage clients and prospects to provide service and obtain investment information

  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously and prioritize work

  • FINRA Series 7&66 or 65, TX Life and Health License

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite tools and investment related software

  • Demonstrated success in developing and sustaining client relationships as well as success in meeting or exceeding sales activity goals on a consistent basis

  • Strong knowledge of financial products and services, interest rates, and financial markets. (impact of changes in interest rate upon insurance and investment products)

  • Some after-hours and Saturday work will be required

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree OR equivalent trade off in professional work experience
