What Youll Be Doing

As a Personal Banker at Bank Iowa, you will be primarily responsible for opening new consumer and business accounts and originating consumer loans while ensuring a superior client experience for both retail and commercial clients. A Personal Banker provides personalized relationship-based banking services to current and prospective clients, promotes the bank and our services in the community and is accountable for individual business development activities and strategies that promote new business and build upon existing client relationships.

Core Responsibilities

  • Promotes and originates loans, new accounts and bank services for both retail and commercial clients.
  • Prospects new clients by making outbound calls to solicit new business and promote brand awareness.
  • Prospects new and existing clients to identify their financial goals and ways of reaching those goals.
  • Provides a superior client experience to all clients of the bank.
  • Resolves client questions and concerns with appropriate actions.
  • Attains individual performance goals for loan volume, deposit growth, referrals, and client experience performance.
  • Analyzes credit and financial information for processing of loans and other bank products for clients to ensure applicable lending policies and procedures are followed. Responsible for adherence to compliance regulations.
  • Completes documents for opening checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, Individual Retirement Accounts, safe deposit boxes, and debit cards.
  • Utilizes relationship tracking tools and participates in weekly activity meetings and team huddles.
  • Collects past due loans and tracks delinquencies.
  • Processes overdraft and returns items according to bank procedures.
  • Orders credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other information as needed.
  • Promotes and participates in the banks special credit programs and other CRA programs.
  • May open and close office by following established security procedures.
  • Provides back up support to teller line and reception areas as needed.
  • May be required to be on call to answer ATM servicing calls or security alarms at night and on weekends.
  • Follows up on referrals from other bank personnel to generate new business.

General Responsibilities

  • Protects the privacy and confidentiality of clients and team members.
  • Understands and complies with banking regulations by following bank policies and procedures. Stays abreast of relevant regulations, current industry matters, and any changes implemented internally to ensure compliance.
  • Represents the bank in community events to promote awareness of Bank Iowa.
  • Actively participates in local community events and promotes business development.
  • Provides and maintains a professional, business-like atmosphere within the office.
  • Partners with all business lines to ensure full line of product and services are available to clients and team members are educated on referring them.
  • Actively participates in marketing campaigns, business development activities, and team activity meetings.
  • Provides back-up support in the absence of the branch manager to ensure adequate coverage, efficient experience, and smoother branch operations.
  • Full time, regular employment
  • Days and hours of operation vary with each Bank Iowa location. May work weekends.
  • No travel is required for this job.
Requirements

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1 to 2 years' work experience in a financial institution or loan office setting preferred.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, stand, sit, walk, or use hands repetitively or for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Lifting (up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently).
  • Critical thinking and exemplary judgment and decision-making.
  • Social perceptiveness and active listening.
  • Mathematical, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take on various tasks assigned by the leader.
  • Friendly delivery of client experience.
  • Ability to register and obtain a unique identifier number from the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System as a Mortgage Loan originator as well as keep the license in force by submitting updates when person information changes and to complete the annual renewal of the license.
