Financial Clerk

Minimum of Associates Degree in Accounting or five years full charge bookkeeping experience. Knowledge and understanding of GAAP. Computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Explorer, Outlook, 10-key, competency in operating standard business machines. Ability to bend, sit, stand, walk, carry, and lift items up to 40lbs without difficulty. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Weekly assists tellers in balancing cash, posts and records all contributions to individual giving records; provides individual report to members annually; mail giving statements annually; answer individual member requests for contribution information. Maintains confidentiality of member giving records at all times. Disburses funds (writes checks) according to the Church s internal financial procedures and in a timely manner; confirms appropriate documentation and backup for each disbursement. Informs Business Administrator of any cash flow problems Coordinates with Business Administrator to ensure financial controls enacted by the Committee on Finance are followed Provides monthly financial statements and reports as well as any other reports requested by the Finance Committee to Pastor and Finance Committee. Provides bookkeeping and financial software expertise as necessary to other staff. Preparation of month end and year-end procedures. Make monthly payments for apportionments, loan payments, insurance, and pension; sweep pass through account for special offerings, endowment, and building fund, and make payments as appropriate. Prepares bi-monthly payroll with online service. Oversees online financial software where members can pay online, export payments through Merchant account. Reconciliation of Bank accounts and Individual statements to revenues Assist with annual church financial review, or audit. Performs other duties as assigned. HOURS : 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week position, with monthly attendance at Finance meetings and other meetings as required.
