ACCOUNTANT Level 1 River Bend Foodbank Davenport, IA Full Time Pay Range: $50,000 - $58,000 / year

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a foundational understanding of accounting principles who are eager to build a career in the field. The Entry-Level Accountant will assist with various accounting tasks, contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cultivates positive relations with hunger relief partners, staff, volunteers, donors, and other members of the public.
  • Accounts Receivable reconciliation and handle accounting questions from hunger relief partners.
  • Bank downloads each month for transactions and sorting by activity. Record changes to the SWEEP account.
  • Capital Campaign Accounts Receivable reconciliation.
  • Grant distribution monthly reconciliation.
  • Fixed assets - tracking new assets, preparing roll forward, and making monthly depreciation entries.
  • Grant distribution transaction review.
  • Prepare monthly department reports.
  • Restricted Grant file - input monthly revenue numbers.
  • Annual Filings for Iowa (bi-annual) and Illinois business licenses. DOT, SAM.
  • Responsible for the ordering of office supplies, postage meter refill and supplies, copier maintenance and supplies.
  • Backup support for Payroll/HR includes maintaining employee data in the attendance system, processing bi-weekly payroll, verifying wages and benefits with the payroll vendor, and assisting with employee benefit programs and annual enrollment.
  • Backup support to Bookkeeper position. Processes daily mail and financial receipts, handles invoice coding and entry, and manages check runs and banking tasks.
  • Assists with year-end financial audits, maintains employee and contract files, and ensures confidentiality and proper handling of documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Willingness to support the mission of the organization and to help end hunger in our area.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background investigation, credit check, and drug test.
