Wells Fargo is seeking a forward-thinking, experienced Technology Director to lead modernization of our banker-facing platforms and our branch customer authentication strategy. This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of customer and employee experiences at one of the worlds leading financial institutions.

The Director will be instrumental in transforming how branch and contact center bankers engage with clients and how customers securely access services across both digital and physical channels. Theyll be responsible for delivering a modern, intuitive, and industry-leading banker experience directly supporting our world-class customer journey. Key responsibilities include driving the development of secure, scalable authentication solutions, championing engineering excellence, and collaborating across business and technology teams to implement innovative, customer-centric solutions.

This position will allow you to bring your deep software engineering prowess, strong understanding of financial services technology, and leadership acumen to drive large-scale transformations.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and execute a multi-year technology roadmap focused on digital transformation and innovation, with a strong emphasis on integrating generative AI to enhance both customer and employee experiences

  • Leading cross-functional teams across engineering, architecture, product, and cybersecurity to deliver scalable, secure, and user-centric solutions; collaboration with business, technology, and risk partners will be essential to ensure alignment with strategic priorities

  • Modernize the banker experience including overseeing the development of next-generation tools that unify customer data, streamline workflows, and improve productivity

  • Lead the customer authentication and identity strategy via designing and implementing modern authentication frameworks that incorporate technologies such as biometrics, behavioral analytics, and device intelligence. GenAI will be leveraged to enhance fraud detection, risk scoring, and adaptive authentication strategies, while maintaining high standards for security and user experience

  • Ensure software engineering excellence to include promoting modern engineering practices such as infrastructure as code, observability, automated testing, and continuous integration and deployment

  • Ensure engineering teams are equipped to build and operate resilient, scalable systems that support rapid iteration and high availability

  • Champion Agile, DevSecOps, and continuous delivery methodologies, while overseeing the development of cloud-native, API-first platforms. GenAI will be used to accelerate development workflows, improve code quality, and support intelligent automation

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence to ensure successful fulfillment

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise software development

  • 5+ years in a Technology Strategic Leadership role within a financial services organization

  • 5+ years leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives in regulated environments

  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience

  • 4+ years enterprise architecture, cloud platform, and distributed systems experience

  • 4+ years identity and access management (IAM), authentication protocols, and cybersecurity best practices experience

  • 2+ years of experience in modernizing legacy systems and integrating with core banking platforms

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related field (Masters preferred)

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Proven ability to lead high-performing, geographically distributed teams in a matrixed organization

  • Strong collaboration skills with experience building relationships across business and technology teams

  • Solid background in project delivery and business execution

  • Demonstrated ability to challenge existing processes and drive a culture of change

  • Skilled at managing multiple competing priorities in a dynamic environment

  • Experience overseeing large-scale technology development efforts within a major business unit

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to senior and executive leaders

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule in one of the listed locations; 3 days a week in office and 2 days a week remote
