The Opportunity

The Bank Risk Management Risk Insights team is looking for a self-motivated Senior Risk Analyst with a strong work ethic to provide risk insights for senior management and Board reporting. The ideal candidate will bring have experience in risk identification, risk appetite, risk and control self-assessment, and top and emerging risks, as well as a strong background in analyzing data and interpreting results to produce forward looking insights.

As a dedicated Risk Analyst Senior, you will provide risk management oversight for a line of business or staff agency in key risk identification, measurement, monitoring, control, and reporting. The incumbent will drive the understanding and management of risk through appropriate practices and processes. This role assesses and oversees business exposures including key and emerging risks. The person will monitor the risk and control environment and provides effective challenge to internal and external stakeholders to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels. The role is also responsible for escalating and reporting Bank risks to the appropriate governance bodies.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Partners with key stakeholders in the bank to identify, assess, aggregate and document risks and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations and third-party operations using advanced knowledge.
  • Communicates results of risk assessments to, business process owners and various levels of leadership in the bank.
  • Implements new bank risk policies, practices, appetites, and solutions to ensure holistic understanding and management of bank risks according to industry best practice.
  • Enhances and contributes to bank tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks based on established strategy.
  • Applies advanced knowledge to utilize or produce analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand bank business objectives and influence solution strategies.
  • Serves as a key contributor in cross-functional teams in the bank to identify, assess, aggregate, and mitigate current and emerging bank risk events.
  • Formulates stress test plans for bank including the evaluation of results and framing of contingency plans in partnership with key bank stakeholders.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • 6 years of risk management, regulatory or operations experience in a relevant functional area to include banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting, or other related operational area OR advanced degree/designation in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or other discipline relevant to risk management and 4 years of work experience in a discipline relevant to risk management.
  • Risk management experience in a complex institution and/or highly matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution management and ability to effectively challenge at all levels of management and influence business outcomes.
  • Ability to effectively work with both internal and external partners in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques and decision-making abilities, to include demonstrated ability to effectively make data-driven decisions.
  • Proactively identifies potential concerns and follows-up to resolve issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of federal regulation 12 CFR Part 30, including Appendices A and D and with federal supervisory guidance, to include:

OCC Documents: Large Bank Supervision Handbook; OCC Safety and Soundness Handbooks - Internal Controls, Corporate & Risk Governance, Retail Lending; and key OCC bulletins - Model Risk Governance, Model Risk Management, New Products and Services Risk Management, Third Party Risk Management, Technology Risk Management, Stress Testing, and Operational Risk.

What sets you apart:

  • Bank Risk Program expertise with risk identification, risk appetite, RCSA, and top and emerging risks.
  • Direct experience in risk measurement and assessment (Risk Appetite, KRIs) for complex financial institution with knowledge across risk taxonomy.
  • Experience evaluating results to produce analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand risk exposure and influence strategies.
  • Experience developing clear and concise written analysis and communicating conclusions / findings to senior management and Board committees.
  • Experience aggregating and analyzing various types of risks and data and creation of dashboards and/or presentations for senior management and Board committees.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Heightened Standards.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $103,450 - $197,730 .

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
