Develop and manage a portfolio of client relationships for corporate and large middle market companies. Primary responsibilities include originating/managing credit and depository/cash management relationships in addition to cross-selling all other products and services including Capital Markets, Derivatives, Corporate Trust, Insurance, Leasing, International, etc. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other Duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Directly lead a BB&T Capital Markets industry team. Develop in depth knowledge of the applicable industry via training and direct experience. Solicit and manage a portfolio of large direct and syndicated loans. Responsibilities include originating, underwriting, structuring and closing direct and syndicated loans ($25MM to $75MM+) while achieving structure and pricing in adherence with bank policy. Additional responsibilities include cross-selling all other bank products/services (e.g., Capital Markets, Interest Rate Derivatives, Cash Management, Corporate Trust, Insurance, Leasing, International, etc.) while monitoring the credit relationships ensuring ongoing compliance with approved terms/conditions. Review existing relationships with credit administration at intervals consistent with bank policy. 2. Facilitate the delivery of Capital Market products/services to clients of the Banking Network. This typically includes interest rate derivatives, public and private debt/equity, financial advisory services, M&A, etc. Work with Regional Corporate Bankers to identify capital markets prospects and ensure their needs are met in a timely fashion. Expand the general knowledge/awareness of BB&T Capital Market's services within the banking network. 3. As a senior member of the Corporate Banking division, manage the business development efforts of other Corporate Banking industry teams. This includes successfully directing the sales and marketing effort and staff supervision and administration. Provide direct assistance and support for complex/sensitive relationships as appropriate. Ensure that managed industry teams goals and objectives are met. 4. Manage the Corporate Banking analyst team, which supports the various industry teams and Corporate Banking Loan Syndication division. Ensure that appropriate training/development of the analyst and Corporate Banking Associates occurs over time. Serve as a mentor for other junior department members as they develop and/or refine their credit underwriting, negotiation, and cross-selling skills/techniques. 5. Solicit and manage BB&T agented or co-agented credit facilities within assigned industry team. This includes originating, underwriting, structuring and closing/servicing syndicated loan relationships. Directly manage/oversee all structuring aspects of the syndication process and the ongoing servicing of the client relationship. Ensure all responsibilities associated with the agent/participant bank relationship are met. This includes working with the Syndications group, Corporate Bankers and Credit Administration Officers to prepare and distribute offering memoranda to prospective participants, coordinating bank group meetings, negotiating with participant banks, etc. 6. For assigned regions and industries, assist the Regional Corporate Bankers in underwriting, structuring, negotiating and closing large credit transactions for corporate and large middle market companies within their respective regions. These loan relationships often require multiple bank participants. 7. Within a defined market territory, solicit and manage complex cash management relationships with multi-location regional and national companies. Support the regions by assisting in the management of multi-location cash management/depository relationships booked in their offices. 8. Attend advanced product knowledge training classes to develop an extensive knowledge level of corporate products and services. 9. Represent the bank in a professional manner in the local community, with customers and correspondent banks. Required Skills and Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Champion non-credit financial services activity in the corporate segment, driving fee-based revenue earning opportunities. Execute on Integrated Relationship Management and Consultative Relationship Management with extensive inclusion of Financial Services Specialists in sales meetings and call planning, joint calling with senior management, and development of custom solutions. 4. Develop and execute a marketing plan focused on winning new client relationships and expanding existing client relationships. Responsible for meeting assigned loan, deposit and fee-based revenue goals. 5. Assume responsibility for the profitability, quality, liquidity, and growth of assigned loan portfolio by servicing all client credit relationships, including credit proposal write-ups, file documentation, legal documentation and loan closing, clearing exceptions, and problem loan/asset management. 6. At the request of the Regional President, assume responsibility for developing and servicing selected client relationships in smaller cities. 7. Ensure that corporate banking relationships are fully developed, including specific efforts to serve the retail banking needs of our clients' owners/management/employees (Wealth Management, Private Banking, BB&T Register to View Work). 8. Represent BB&T in the community by actively participating in civic affairs and local and professional organizations to identify and develop new clients and enhance the Bank's image. 9. Coordinate the delivery of Capital Markets and other specialized finance facilities to target clients and prospects. 10. Coordinate the economic development efforts within the Region through active participation in the Chamber of Commerce, development of relationships with regional representatives in the State Department of Commerce, and participation in other organizations involved in economic development. 11. Support and coordinate with others in client development and servicing efforts in the Region as appropriate.
